Registration

This rate is intended for students and young professionals and includes all activities at our Annual Meeting including AM refreshments, lunch, afternoon break, and Continental Drifters reception. Do not register separately for the Annual Meeting if you qualify as a student/young professional, and registering for this Data Management & Models Evaluations program.

This session is only open to students and young professionals.

Registrants are asked to bring a laptop with the free ModelMuse and MT3D-USGS application already installed, along with other freeware mentioned below. See below for links.

Data Management and Model Evaluations: An Introduction to Data Management, Statistical Evaluations, Conceptual Site Models, and Software Data Modeling Applications

This session is held concurrently with our Annual Meeting. Registration fee for this program includes the full Annual Meeting program Do not register separately for our Annual Meeting.

If attending only this program, it begins at 9:40 AM and ends at 4:00 PM with lunch in Ballroom A/B/C from 12:15-1:15. Check agenda for Ballroom D/E sessions tied to this program.

  • 9:00-9:05  —  Welcome/Opening Remarks (A/B/C)
  • 9:05-9:35 — Enhancing Inspections for Natural Gas Exploration (A/B/C)
  • 9:40-10:05  —  Introduction to Data Management (D/E)
  • 10:05-10:30  —  Software Overview (D/E)
During this session, students will be introduced to preliminary evaluation tools including GWSDAT (https://gwsdat.net) and ProUCL software application. Students are asked to bring a laptop with Excel installed. The ProUCL software is available from https://www.epa.gov/land-research/proucl-software. 
  • 10:30-10:45 — Break (A/B/C)
  • 10:50-12:15   Conceptual Site Models: An Introduction (D/E)
  • 12:15-1:15  —  Luncheon, Networking (A/B/C)
  • 1:15-1:45  —  Application of Statistics (D/E)
  • 1:45-3:10 — Query Your Data Using Modeling Software (D/E)
During this session, students will work with a provided data set using the ModelMuse software application. Students are asked to bring a laptop with the free ModelMuse and MT3D-USGS application already installed. Both can be downloaded from  https://www.usgs.gov/software/modelmuse-a-graphical-user-interface-groundwater-models
  • 3:10-3:25 — Students are invited to return to A/B/C and network with professionals during this break.

  • 3:30-4:00  —  Discussion of Results — Panel (D/E)
  • 4:00 — Complete Evaluation & Adjournment of Student/Young Professional Program. If rejoining Annual Meeting in A/B/C, be aware a session is underway in that room until 4:20 PM.

Attendees are invited to join Annual Meeting sessions being held in Ballroom A/B/C that do not conflict with the programming for this session.
