A Centimeter-scale Study of the Upper Devonian Frasnian/Famennian Boundary Interval in the northern Appalachian Basin: Insights into Depositional Environments, Basin Hydrography, and Implications for Resource Exploration

Presenter

Randy Blood

DRB Geological Consulting

Within 72 hours and after auditing participation, PCPG will circulate a PDH certificate documenting registrant’s participation time, not to exceed 60 minutes.

Level: Intermediate

Webinar Overview:  The webinar will cover stratigraphy, sedimentology, and basin hydrography of shale dominated strata in the Appalachian Basin, and the methods and analyses applicable to understanding these depositional systems and resource accumulations. The goal of the talk is to demonstrate the importance of holistic approaches to data collection and interpretation.

Who should attend:  This webinar should be attended by anyone trying to understand stratigraphy and sedimentology of shale-dominated strata, for both academic and/or economic reasons.

About our presenter:  D. Randy Blood is an accomplished petroleum geologist with over 20 years of experience in petroleum geology, specializing in unconventional resources and sedimentary basins. He holds an M.S. in Geology from the University at Buffalo and has worked for major energy companies like Chesapeake Energy and EQT Production. In 2019, he founded DRB Geological Consulting.

Mr. Blood's research, particularly on the Marcellus and Utica Shales in the Appalachian Basin, has earned him multiple awards. He has authored numerous publications, presented at international conferences, and led numerous field expeditions. In 2021, he co-founded Wildlands Research, focusing on critical minerals in sedimentary basins.

As a Corresponding Member of the International Commission on Stratigraphy Subcommission on Devonian Stratigraphy and a member of the DAGGER Group's Affiliated Science Team, Blood continues to contribute significantly to the field of geology, shaping our understanding of geological resources and their implications for energy and mineral exploration.
