Course Synopsis:  This course will provide participants with the opportunity to observe demonstrations of proper groundwater sampling techniques, being utilized in PA, to sample groundwater monitoring wells. The class will focus on QA/QC protocols and applications for the PADEP Act 2 and Storage Tank Programs, however, EPA Region III and other PA programs will be discussed. Participants will benefit from hands on experience using a variety of sampling and purging equipment including electric submersible, bladder, and peristaltic pumps. Low flow techniques and flow through cell usage for groundwater parameter monitoring will be demonstrated.

Who Should Attend:  Novice geologists, environmental scientists, and sampling technicians who will benefit from understanding the ‘bigger picture’ associated with groundwater sampling and the importance of generating high-quality, technically defensible data. Those unfamiliar with low flow sampling and purging techniques or the use of groundwater parameter stabilization methods for well purging will also find this course beneficial.

Instructor:  James Young, P.G., Project Manager,
EA Engineering Science & Technology, Inc.
